Conveyers and conveyor systems are used to move materials. A few types of conveyors are: wheel conveyors, roller conveyors, belt conveyors, magnetic conveyors, screw conveyors, pneumatic conveyors, inclined conveyors, and vertical conveyors. Wheel conveyors, also called gravity wheel conveyors, use skate wheels and are not powered. Roller conveyors use rollers and can be powered or non-powered. Belt conveyors use belts made from flexible materials. Magnetic conveyors use magnets to move ferrous metals. Screw conveyors use a tube or trough with a helix screw to move bulk materials. Pneumatic conveyors use air pressure to move bulk materials through tubes. Inclined conveyors are belt conveyors with an incline to move material to a different elevation. Vertical conveyors move materials vertically and have many different types. A few vertical conveyors are: bucket elevators, gripper elevators, and spiral conveyors. Bucket elevators are vertical conveyors that use buckets to move material. Gripper elevators, or lowerators, are vertical conveyors that use side grippers to lower or raise products. Spiral conveyors are vertical conveyors that can also be used as an accumulation table.
